In late June of 2011, Derek had a baseball tournament in Illinois near his grandpa's favorite track, Meadowdale International
Raceway. Between games, Derek and his mom, dad and sister took some time to visit what is left of the track. MIR is now called
Raceway Woods and the old track configuration is used as a hiking trail.

Stan decided to load up the old Hornet kart and head to the 2009 Badger Kart Club Vintage Festival in Dousman, Wisconsin.
Derek had a great time sliding around the track in his first experience driving on on the 60's style hard tires. The event
had a large 'History of Badger' display that showed a picture of Stan in his Banchi from a 1966 article (see just above and
to the left of Stan's head) that was in the Milwaukee Sentinel.

Derek finished 7th out of 17 in Yamaha Junior Sportsmen. It was his first racing action in almost three years. It was also
his first time driving a 100cc kart. Brad Kuhn brought Derek in as a substitute driver for his son in the Badger Raceway Series.

Here is Scott racing at Road America during the 2002 Grand Nationals. This was his last race
in the 'Schneiss Special' as he puchased a 2001 Birel/Honda Shifterkart soon after this race.
